Common 用于是通常的、常发生的、广泛使用或众所周知的：

raise的意义很多，包括有举起 比如说， raise hand 举手；养育，栽种 ；提出议题等等的意思。如果要和increase 做比较的话，实际上考的意思就是raise 作 提高，增加的释义时的词义辨析。  

具体两个词的辨析可以从某些方面入手。

首先可以确定的是，在字典上raise的释义是这样的。 to increase sth or to make something better or stronger。所以在某些句子里面，rasie 和 increase 两个词是可以通用的，比如说，They've raised their prise lot since last year。   在这句句子里面increase也是可以的。但是事实上，在大多数的用法中，可以总结的出来的是，increase往往是用在动词不定式中的时候，虽然raise 的意义也差不多，但是一般不用raise做替换。比如说，可以说 the wokers want to increase/raise their incomes。  但是 一般是这样，the workers want their incomes to increase。而不用raaise。因为increase 着重点是在表达数据，数值的增大。而raise 在表示增加的时候，着重点旨在表达动作的发出者想要增加的意愿。  

二，rasie 还可以表示的质量，声音音调的提高，这个时候就不能用increase 进行替换。比如说，The hotel has to raise their services。不用increase 做替换。
